Why isn't 'life imprisonment' for life?

;D Asked by thatshygirl 16 days ago, 1 answer.

When people get a life sentence, why is it only like 16 years or something?
Wouldn't it be for actual life, since it's called 'Life' Imprisonment?
I just wondered (:

I see your from the uk... and you love the 80s omg my fave decade growing up as a teeager in teh 80's was wicked ill never forget it happy

what we do is give a life sentence with a recommendation of so many years...

so if a person commits murder and is sentenced to life with a recommendation of 15 years it means they will have to serve 15 years before being considered for parole

life can mean life... it just depends on how the parole commitie are feeling on the day the parole is due
