Why is the swine flu so bad?

I'm really scared but I want to know more about the Swine Flu.
Whats going on?

ok so its a new strain of virus... that is why it is so hyped up.. now called H1N1...we are in a pandemic imminent level 5 alert... which means that the virus is transmitted between humans easily and is easily distributed... every year 35,000 people die of the normal flu in the USA... the unique characteristic of this strain is that it is affecting young healthy people, unlike the normal flu which usually targets children or old people who have weak immune systems... only like 150 deaths already from this flu which is mostly all in mexico and one in the US... the strain that is in the US is said to be weaker then the one in mexico so the symptoms are weaker... overall not such a big deal...wash your hands a lot and stay away from people who cough and you should be fine : ))

Because no one has immunity to it so anyone can catch it. Whereas the normal flu a lot of people have had it and you've probably come in contact with it and produced antibodies - or you got them from your mother from in the womb or breastfeeding.
