Paintings, like fashion, can sometimes be popular for reasons that escape most people. All it takes is the right mention in a few mass produced publications like the new york times, etc, and then suddenly every newspaper *has* to run a story on it, or they missed out.
To me, that looks like colorful spittle, layed out in geometric patterns...to others, it's art, inspiring, breathtaking, and wonderful. No sense in it, art just is.
