Why is slittin your wrists suddenly cool ?

Why do some people always act like they're so depressed and say their life is so bad ?
And slit their wrists ?

Does anyone else find this annoying ?

Emo is short for EMOtional, which is a state of mind.
People like this listen to a pretty select kind of music, which was labeled emo.
The style of fashion they like is called Scene.
So please keep your mouth shut if you have no idea what your talking about.

Cutting your body up isn't going to help you,
it just makes things worse.
And Emo is not cutting your wrists!
It's a genre of music and a fashion.

I don't know that slitting your wrists is 'suddenly cool.' People who mutilate themselves have problems and its not cool. I wouldn't say I find it 'annoying.' I have a friend who used to cut. She was very depressed and that was her way of finding relief. Its hard for those of us who don't cut to understand, but if you know someone who is cutting, please get them help.

Yeah very anoying. I just tell them to stop and it could be worse.

POSERS are annoying, but people who cut because there is messed up sh*t in their lives aren't. You know what else is annoying? People like you who think they can say stuff like this and it be ok.

This is true, but saying cutters are annoying is wrong.

I think most cutters do it for the hope that they might just accidently hit the right vein on purpose you know? Most of those people need help, if you care about them try your hardest, but if they refuse then it's out of yours and anyones hands. The reason I said Most of those people need help Is because you got two versions.

You have the cutters who do it praying and hoping they can get the nerves to actually press down hard enough and succeed, then you have the other cutters who do it for attention, and try to rub it in everyone elses face at how hard their life is. Last time I checked, everyones life is hard, hence the reason there's so much crime, unwealth, and hatred on this earth.

I Wouldn't do it, and I wouldn't call it annoying persay. If I had a friend who did it, I'd definitely try my hardest to get them to see the light, and consiquences. Annoying is kind of harsh though, because that would be like saying a rape victim is annoying because he/she cries at night. That's not a good word to use at all.

Three types I guess, the two you mentioned plus those who don't do it near major blood vessels and do it a way for relief.

I find this sooo stupid and annoying, but I do have a friend who has tried to kill themselves out of deppresion and sh*t, that was not kwl at all, but now they have found god...

But I just hate the way people reckon their life is hard when all I can think about is the people in 3rd world countries.

Uh... I think these might have been more directed at me than you... Anyway, some people have really sh*tty lives. I cut because I'm depressed, used to have an eating disorder, was abused growing up, feel like I'm a failure(This ties into the abuse thing as well) and I've tried killing myself more than once. That's how I feel better. I'm not saying cutting is the right answer, but I think people who are ignorant enough to call people like me out on something like this are doing the wrong thing.

I used to cut because I was trying to cope. I wasnt trying to kill myself, I wasnt wishing I could press down harder (hitting a vein tends not to do much anyways). I was trying to cope. It has suddenly become cool. Which is annoying as hell, because you've got people doing something really hurtful for no good reason, you've got people who need real help who are being ignored and not taken seriously, and you've got everyone else who get irritated and annoyed by something that seems like attention seeking behavior (this includes psychologists and counselors who should know better).

Wrist slitting is a form of self harm. It's not cool OR emo. Self harming is something that should ALWAYS be taken seriously. It's a very serious thing and needs to be dealt with ASAP. A lot of times, people who cut/self harm are either afraid or embarrassed to admit they have a problem. It's nothing to be ashamed of. You CAN get help. Don't ever be afraid to talk to someone you can trust about what's going on.
