They do it because txt speak is easy, 1337 speak makes people feel cool and ebonics make people feel gangster. =P (Kidding, though it's probably why.)

Anyways, I agree that it's annoying. I'm very accepting of it, though. I guess it's just a part of who a person is.

mainly because its quicker and easier for a lot of kids
and secondly because they think it looks and sounds cool
when really its just makes them sound like they have the brain of a 5 year old
I do find it incrediblly annoying
especially when its overused or used in real life

Haha, sorry about that, I just really didn't feel like typing backwards. But now my computer is fixed, so I can type properly now. But yes, I agree that sometimes it gets annoying when people my age don't know how to spell words that I've known how to spell for a while. I really want to point it out, but I don't want to sound like a jerk. The only text talk words that I use are lol and brb but that isn't all that often. I'll usually use haha or actually state that I am leaving and about how long I will be gone. I used to be worse and when on AIM, I would never capitalize anything nor use punctuation, but when I joined this site, I knew that if I typed on here, I would use good grammar and punctuation, so it became a habit to always type like that. But don't worry, at least there's one teenager that types correctly

I think it's so stupid. I don't always capitalize everything that I should or use 100% correct grammar when I'm on the computer. but the whole internet speak pisses me off especially the 1773 stuff. it takes me forever to figure it out. I used to use the aim chat stuff. but got annoying and it just became habit to spell everything out. it is easier for my brain. and helps keep my typing accuracy up (which is helpful for school). I try to do my best. and I'm a teen so. =D

I know of kids that have written up an essay (seen one) for school and it was ALL wrong. you for you. 4 in place of for. It was crazy stupid. The one thing that gets me about the whole thing, though was the fact that the teacher gave him a passing score on it. I'd have given him a big fat ZERO and told him try again on a different subject with proper grammar and such.

What's this world going to come to when you start typing like that on Resumes and the hiring firm says I see you have a very nice resume. What say you start next week. It's unacceptable, I say! Blah.

Wow, that is honestly pitiful. If I was ever handed a paper like that, the first thing I would do is laugh...very hard. I'd just give it back to them and tell them to try again.
