Why is childcare so expensive?

Why is childcare so expensive? It makes me angry knowin you have to pay 100-1000 dollars because your baby can't use the big toilet. Why is it so expensive?

Where I live, child care costs around $1,000 for some schools, others you can spend as little as a few hundred. If you are looking for less expensive alternatives, then you can chose one that costs less.

They charge more for babies because they have to have more teachers per student (one baby is a hard job for two parents...so, you can imagine how tough it must be to have 10 babies in one room...it requires many adults to supervise).

Then to be safe, the child care center has to have insurance, staff certified in infant CPR, first aid, and understand child development so that if there is anything the parents should be warned about, the parents will know fast, since for many children that go to day care, they have more time there than they do at home with their parents.

Last...considering that my children are my most valuable possession, it's not the money that's the issue (for me) it's *how* the kids are treated at the childcare center. People work there, who's income and life depends on the salary they are paid for working there...wouldn't you like it if the people taking care of your children were well taken care of themselvs, and happy with their own lives? Wouldn't happy people take better care of children, the hope for all our future, instead of people who were not so well paid, and perhaps unhappy?

daycare is way over priced . my school ager is 400.00 per month for 4 hours a day. then my pre k is 350.00 per week. I get a sense I'm paying for organized play mostly. I can not see who is possibly under paid. they make you sign a paper so they can get money back for every child they feed, so I'm sure theres some kick backs.
