I myself work in a pharmacy..
you doctor is the only one who knows how your body will react to certain things..
he/she knows your hormones and all..
different birth controls have different strengths and some with different hormones reactions..
side effects are very common..and sometimes he can prescribe one that it wont be as rough...
I hope I helped...
Since it is something that interacts with your own body's chemical balances plus could be influenced by other medications you might be taking, it is necessary that it be by prescription.
Oh that question has puzzled me too Stephanie...thanks for asking and thanks prizmeye0687 for answering
what priz and ethemer said... most people dont react badly, but some people do... I had a really bad reaction to the patch and became severely anemic in a couple of weeks... so I guess just to protect people incase something goes wrong?
Also, it forces women to get their yearly Pap.
it would increase pregnancies
girls would go off having sex knowing they could just get an over the counter pill to cure it all
there are also some side affects
and depending on who you are and how your body works, some of them can be dangerouse

Why is birth control a prescription?
Send me Fun Mail
I'm just kind of curious why birth control pill has to be prescribed? Like why cant it be an over the counter type thing? I'm not saying it would increase or decrease pregnancies at all I'm just curious.
