Why does everyone want to get tongue piercings suddenly?

I just want to know why nearly EVERYONE wants to get their tounges peirced lately?!!
I like them too as much as the next person!!!but like sooo sssooo many people are getting it done in school...and on here there is loads of questions about it on here lol!!! like I dont have a problem with everyone getting the same thing done cause if somethings cool or fun, then lots of people are going to want/like it...but what is the big deal about tounge piercings???

and NO the reason people I know are gettin it done is not for oral pleasure lol cause we're 15 and 16 an not in2 that shiz yet :L:L

I dont feel individual anymore.

I think because kids just want to fit in with the cool people.. and obviously the cool people have peircings.
Peircings dont suit most people.

I don't know..I got mine done like a year ago..and my eyebrow..and like a load of people are getting both them done to.lol..I really dont get it...it is kinda annoying
