Why does everyone think the saw movies are horror? the saw movies are based on ethics and morrality, it has many issues with the responsibility of playing God and issues on peoples outlook on life until their faced with death, I always thought saw was a...

psycological/thriller/drama, just because it has a lot of gore there is nothing supernatural about it, its based on what could happen potencialy

although horror means somthing 'grim' when its used as a genre its usualy means somthing supernatural, because you could say the film kidulthood is grim, but its not horror although its horrific

my outlook on life :) Answered by lizzie_2410 on Nov 01, 2009, 05:02AM

1. extreme fear; terror; dread
2. intense loathing; hatred
3. (often plural) a thing or person causing fear, loathing, etc.
4. An intense, painful feeling of repugnance and fear.
5. Intense dislike; abhorrence.

those are the definitions of horror ... some people watching saw might relate to these
for example number 3 jigsaw is causing/creating fear even though the people see the billy doll and the tape.and not accually him Deep voices also can cause some sort of fear/horror

people might be terrifed from seeing the broken limbs, the blood, the guts and the other horrible scenes in the saw movies
as you said it could be a thriller aswell because it creates an atmosphere of excitement and suspense because your wondering will that person die or live to tell whats been done.
yeah it could be psycological but we already KNOW whats brought jigsaw to do this and why he wants to do it hes shown a lot of thought and knows full well what can and will happen
so really I think its a horror/thriller

hope I helped happy x

but saws are a tool, and limbs are part of the body and the film is based on relaity because they use everyday ethical issues, although people (including me) believe in the paranormal it is still a mystery and therefore not based on reality

It just annoyed me when I read a review about the new saw movie and it said
A horror movie about health insureance
but really its a thriller that deals with ethical issues,

anything with enough blood, gore, or even if it just has an element of the supernatural(vampires, werewolves) things can be called horror
Queen of the Damned and Underworld were all called horror, they're more action to me. But yeah, that's society for you.
