Why does alaska look likea continent

the other day in geog, we had this quiz for dummies (no, really, that was the name for it). the last question on it said 'IS ALASKA A CONTINENT?' it looked like a continent, so I said yes.
I was wrong ):
But doesn't it look like a continent?

Alaska is a state not a continent It is part of North America. Alaska is just a very large peninsula.

It's pretty firmly attached to another continent so it couldn't be a separate one.
