Why do people like hip hop and rap

Why do people like hip hop and rap is like not music, you can make rap or hip hop with a cellphone and 2 words that rhyme ... why do people like it?

That's not for anyone else to judge.

It goes with any style of music...why do people like opera? Classical? Reggae?

Just because you don't have any particular taste for it does not mean it isn't 'music'.

There are many different types of rap out there. I prefer the old school rap, I.e Beastie Boys, Vanilla Ice, etc.
Nowadays rap is just Gangster rap.

Personally, I hate that. But people have certain types of interests. If they enjoy rap or hip hop, leave it at that.

To some people it's the best music out there just, cause you don't like it doesn't mean it cant qualify as music. I hate rape but my brother loves it, I LOVE rock music but my bro hates it. I think rape is meaningless and stupid, my bro thinks rock is just guys screaming lyrics. People just have different tastes. If someone wants to like rap hiphop thats them. Why should we care??

rap and hip hop started to go bad in the early 2000's now most of the rap and hip hop songs are about drugs,prostitutes,cars,money, and going hella hyphy old school rap and hip hop are a lot better cause the songs actually meant something

I don't like rap, hip hop or anything along those lines really, but if other people like it - it's all good. Not everyone is going to like the same kind of music as you do and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just not into rap/hip hop... I'm a rock/metal/screamo type of person but I'm not going to give someone else sh*t just because they like rap/hip hop.
