Why do people hate people who are gay

Its so freaking retarded if people are gay let them be gay. People act like they are not even human or if they were possessed by the devil or w/e crap. I have a lot of friends who are lesbians and it really pisses me off that when were out in public that...

people have nothing else to do w/ their pathetic lil lives that all they can do is stare and act disgusted. And people are like it isnt normal blah blah blah but who cares whats normal because nothing is ever really normal. So I just dont get it. Being gay isnt a disease. And people are so ignorant to believe that. Especially over religious people talkin to people as if they were the same religion its like people are different religions and some people dont even have a religion because they dont believe. Its just so annoying all the time that I hear people in my family second guessing my choice in friends b/c they think im going to be lesbian if they touch me. they act as if being gay is another trend like tattoos. Its like if people want a tattoo they get it because they want it not because everyone else has one just like being gay if they are gay they are because they want to and its who they are not because someone else is telling them to...just my opinion...does anyone have a less typical ignorant reason to why people hate people who like the same sex?

People are generally affraid of the unknown and unfamilliar. Because in general we do not readily admit to fear, especially of a person or group of persons, we show fear as hatred. The same thing can be shown through religion or ethnic origin, how many people "hate" muslims because "they are terrorists". this is pretty stupid as most Muslims, are like most Christians, Jews, Asians, Blacks, gay, straight, Goth, and so forth. Most people, of any group, are good people, but there are a few in every group that makes the rest look bad and enforces a stereotype, which in turn gives credibility to ignorance. ie... "well I know this person is like ---this---, so they all are.

So as to your parents, how sheltered did they grow up. If they grew up not knowing or understanding the differences of other people, they might just be affraid of the unknown, which is perfectlly normal.

Also to break the ice, ask them about marriage in general... and follow up with a joke.. "Once you're married isn't it all the same sex?"

Because people are stupid. I'm sooo not gay, but I support them 1000%. My best friend is gay. I love him to death, he's sooo cool!
The religous leaders/books and other crap is what puts that garbage into people's heads. Doesn't some religons preach on how to accept people? I think it's all a lie and those are the type of people who think they're perfect, when actually they're the wrong ones in the world.
