Why do people choose to worship satan?

Why do they (Satanists) want to worhip an evil thing that has caused so much suffereing for the entire human race? Why stand beside complete evil and call it good? What do people get out of a relationship like this? I truly do not understand why someone...

would choose Satan (evil) over Jesus Christ (Holy).

Nope, it actually really creeps me out to tell you the truth.

Ok. So first off you think satan is EVIL? wrong. Satan is not evil. Satan has nothing to do with killing, pain,death and suffering. You clearly have not looked into satanism. Satan caused suffering in the human race? How many people have died in the name of christianity? Can you tell me? I think close to a couple million? Thats quite a bit. Now you see as soon as something bad happens christians will automaticaly point to satan, and when there is good they point to god. Sorta like satan is god's scapegoat for being malevolant? I will quote an athiest on this, I forget who it was that said this. If god is willing but not able, does that not make him powerless? And if god is willing but not wanting, does that not make him malevolant?. Evil? I think its safe to say christianity has cuased more pain and suffering in this world than any other religion. And thats based on fact. Look into satanism before you decide to judge it and speak about it in such an awful way. Do not call it evil, And do not say that satanists stand beside something evil and call it good. BECUASE SATANISTS DONT. You really are oblivious as to what satan is arent you? Read a book. Stop listening to the man in the collar and open your mind.

Satanists (mostly) don't worship the Christian concept of Satan. Most people calling themselves Satanists view Satan not as some evil spiritual being, but rather, as the anthropomorphization of self interest. There are Satanists who view Satan as an otherworldly being, but their Satan is not evil. Instead, he's the demigod of humanity both in this world and the next.

I've heard there are a very few people who actually do worship the Christian concept of Satan, but I've never actually met one either in real life or online.

Maybe THEIR Satan is not the same as YOUR Satan.

Not my position but a Satanist I talked to made this point.

It is evil to punish someone who doesn't deserve it.

We live a finite amount of time, therefore we can only have finite sins.

God dooms sinners to Hell for eternity which is infinite punishment.

Since sinners suffer infinitely more punishment than they deserve God is infinitely evil.

Since God is so evil Satan is comparatively good.

Well, without reading everyones answers, I'm going on my on here and saying that Christians do the very same thing that you are accusing Satanists as doing. They take something Evil and try to call it good. That 's Jesus.

I think that Christians and Atheists have a lot in common. You both believe in things that you have no proof of.

oops, I forgot something. Is it that you can't understand why Satanists would choose to believe in something that doesn't have a Heaven? I feel like to believe in Satan is to believe in God. Can you have one w/o the other? I don't know what the Satanists deal is but I know yours.

all we can do is pray for those people. that through some turn of events (such as this question) that they will see that GOD is such a loving GOD, that by denying him they are only denying themselves a worry free life. GOD IS SOOO GOOD. GIVE HIM ALL PRAISE. HE GAVE US FREE CHOICE NOW MAKE THE RIGHT ONE.

Well, they believe that there is no God. But they can't PROVE there is no God...

captainassassin, atheists do not believe in God. They do not necessarily believe there is no God.

In some circles the term strong atheist is used to describe someone who believes there are no god(s) vs. weak atheist who merely doesn't believe in God.

I don't disbelieve in God though I find the various God theories very unlikely.
