Why do people ask if others, here, have a myspace?

Jeremy Goodrich yep, that's me Asked by thedude 5 months ago, 16 answers.

It's confusing to me - honestly. We have all the communication options you can find on Myspace (private messaging, profile comments, picture comments, etc)...so, why would you ask somebody, here on FunAdvice where you can contact them the *same* way,...

would you need to know if they're on myspace?

Is it because they'd rather see a profile page with 70% ads on it?

I would say just another way to talk to them and get to know them. Instead of being able to talk just on here but other ways too such as myspace, facebook, msn, yahoo.

...there's also music, videos, and customizable profile pages. Although the latter is more trivial. I using for networking and keeping in touch with friends, oh and my band has a music page too.

That is funny, I have no idea. I have a myspace but really unless I get an email I rarely ever go on there because of the ad thing and OMG I thought FunAdvice was confusing at first, I still really don't have a hang of the myspace thing yet. Some peoples profiles seem really cluttered as well .

If I had to make a guestamation on it, I'd say it's just a "name" thing. Honestly myspace isn't all that, it's just more personizable. But we've talked about that before. Possibly another guess would be that more people know about myspace vs funadvice and they can have conversations with all of their friends who more than likely have a myspace and not just a Fun Advice. Personally I think you should make a myspace, and add tags so that when people search... your site profile and what it's about comes up and give people an idea of how creative, original, helpful, stress free, and all around just plain cool the site is man. After all, myspace is an "advertising" site, why not use it to your advanvantage? wish I could be more help, later.

I use my myspace as an online photo album. I have already uploaded about ten albums of pictures to that site. I also only give out my myspace to persons that I want to know me that intimately.

I dont know either, yeah the videoa and stuff but the communication is the same, you have a place for private mail and comments, comment on pics, add people as friends...youhave your profile page on here just like myspace...the only difference is you give advise on here and ask questions...you get to know someone on here as you do there if not better...I dont know...maybe they dont know what else to ask lol

Maybe because there are updates to show us if the person had commented back, unlike here where they don't tell you at all.

xxjulixx, so, we need to send people an email if somebody comments on their profile?

Sure, we can add that as an option.

re: personalized profiles, yes, we need to add those - I've been hearing the request for at least a year now, we just need to decide how we're going to do it, and then we'll get it done in a few weeks.

I guess its because the profiles are personalized and you can read about a persons likes and dislikes on there... I've got a hi5 account but seriously there really isnt anything to do there that I cant do on msn or here...

I get emails if someone comments on my profile here. Is that what you are talking about ' thedude ' ? One thing I would like is to be able to see if someone sends me a comment without going to my profile like it does when you get a Funmail.

my guess would be that maybe you already had a myspace and had tons of photos and stuff uploaded and you dont't want to spend hours uploading again to another site.

On Myspace, the set up is more personalizeable.
You can have certain sections for books, heros, ect.
And Layouts and stuff like that.

And I agree,I think having that NEW COMMENTS! notification would be sweet.

By the way, would HTML work on our FA sites?
Im curious now.lol.

Myspace is just another place with more options of communcation like Facebook. It's a place to create a profile and personalize it however you'd like while staying in touch with people.
