Why do parents have to freak out?

My Mom and dad are freaking out cause they think I am going goth!! I know I know why would they freak out cause of that well I think it it because we are catholic . All I wear is black skinny jeans converses and shirts with band names on it how is THAT...

GOTH I love my parents but they need to back off sometimes

they are freaking out because they are your parents, who love you and care about you... don't worry about, just keep talking to them, let them know that it's just the outside, you're still who you are on the inside and no color of clothes or style of hair can change that (thank the media for this one - some times all parents see of goth are the one's in the news that kill themselves or shoot up a high school).

yeah I agree parents can be over protective... but I guess they hate to see their lil girl grow up.. my parents finnaly gave in when I wanted to get an emo style hair cut.. they let me lol and now I want snakebites! lol

your parents, like theirs, are afraid of something new and that challenges the boundaries. what you are doing may seem completlt normal, however, to them this is a new phase that they no NOTHING about, which makes it all the more appealing to you lol!

I used to be a goth, and I did it because I wanted to be different from conventional 'chav' status. I had 26 piercings, had my hair dreadlocked and took things that maybe wern't such a good idea in hindsight, but have made me what I am.

the point is, this is part of finding your own identity, if you like it, or it suits you, you'll stick with it. if not, you have the right to change your perception on what suits you.

understand that your parents don't understand what a 'goth' is, all they have is what they assosiate it with, and what they have heard. goths wern't arounf when they were younger, so how would they know?

accept their 'freakout' and as long as you don't change as a whole, in time they will accept it, just accept yourself it won't be overnight! and goth isn't a status, like any 'pigeon hole' it's just a summery of a whole notion.

PARENTS ARE AFRAID you MIGHT GO TO FAR DOWN THE WRONG PATH .
I HAppens every day .someone loses there way.

THERE parents its there job! Simple as that
