Why do guys pretend that they don't care?

Okay, I'm pretty sure I already know what this means but I just wanted to double-check. I've moved away from my friends and my crush and my friends keep me posted on what he's doing and they keep telling him not to forget me. Well, most of the time (it depends on who it is) my friends will tell him not to forget me and depending on who it is, he'll either a. admit how he's really feeling b. blush and say he doesn't know or c. laugh and say whatever. Why do guys pretend like they don't care anymore when it's so obvious that they still does? He's pretending to hate me to some people and I was just wondering if it was like I thought and he was just doing that so it didn't hurt so much. I mean, he does care. I know that because he told me to my face that he loved me but then 'squashed' it when he found out I was moving.

maybe because we are told by girls to not make it so obvious, I mean if we seem desperite and willing to do anything to just go out with you the odds of you girls abusing that is quite high (notice I am referring you girls just like to said you guys) not all are the same. We're made with the same Base, but filled differently.

Also you moved away and you guys were just 'crush's' time moves on.

Well, either he was playing you, and is playing those who are close to you in case you do come back and he can well...'get some', or he is a coward and scared to admit his feelings, but either way if a guy truly loved you he wouldn't be afraid to express it.

I met a guy and straight away he told me that he was leaving to a diffrent country but I didnt care. we fell in love with each other - now I havent seen him for the past six months but he's comming in november ..if a guy truly loves you he wouldnt pretend he doesnt or if he does and still pretends he doesnt its not your problem its his. so show him you dont care and move on
and if hes doing it just doing it so it wouldnt hurt so much then talk to him . is there any way you could meet him ?[as you didnt giv enough information im not sure what the situation is exactly like ; did you just move to a diffrent city or diffrent country ? etc]
also I dont know what it was like between you in the first place ; was he your friend who you secretly liked or was he just your crush ? etc

either way I think that if you want to find out WHY he is hiding his true feelings you should definitly talk to him. if you cant meet him then call him !
