Why do europeans hate americans?

I am just wondering why most europeans hate americans?? Please do not hold anything back, but no biased opinions or racial discrimination.

Sometimes Americans can come over as loud and agressive and many people in the west do not agree with the way they act as the self imposed World Police.

It is also often viewed that the invasion of Iraq is all about the oil and not to free the people from oppression. If so, there are many African and south american countries that the US should be invading. But then again, most of them dont have oil or natural resources to make it worthwhile!

It is also felt by some that Bush invaded Iraq just to finish off what his father started.

After 9/11 there was a deliberate attempt by the US government to directly link Saddam with Osama. In fact, a few weeks after the event, many Americans belived that Saddam was directly responsible for it.

I think a lot of the overall problem is that 'gung ho' type of spirit in the US that appears to be carried on from the old wild west.

Also, in many countries, they find it weird that in many states, citizens can own weapons. This creates a vicious circle between criminals and members of the public.

Not all my own views but general views of many taken from discussions, the TV and the media here in Britain.

Oh, I forgot to add. It appearred to many that Bush made his decision to invade Iraq and then set about looking for evidence to justify his decision, rather than the other way around.

Some people consider that the war was illegal and Bush is more of a war criminal than Sadam.

Finally, the west is unhappy that the USA do whatever they like especially the detaining of people at Guantanamao bay without trial and without right to appeal or legal representation.

In somes eyes, the US is as bad as Sadam.

I forgot to add that I am not saying all of them, it's just due to past experiences that I ask this. I went to canada for a hockey tournament and all the locals bashed us calling us names and such.

some people don't like the american belief that we know what is best for everyone. some people feel that is a very self ritious and egotistical point of view and that our government should butt out of other countries business. that is what I heard, anyway.

It may be because some Americans are ignorant; as far as I know, Canada is a part of North America, not Europe.

Yeah, You guys should learn a lot about the canadians before you start saying we a weird and bashing us for 'not liking the americans' Sorry I personally dont, I like americans just not the way you guys go about doing everything and jumping to conclusions, don't say its bushes fault or the president elect because you elected for them so it comes back on you guys, and we are not europeans, we are Canadian, Also the french don't even want to be apart of Canada they are independant well trying to be and same with the Indians... Canada is 3 highly different cultures or countries trying to live as one with a lot of fighting and protesting... Learn about your neighbours before bashing us thanks we just dont make a big scene about it all like you guys do. Cheers!

no one bashing canadians what so ever. he said it wasnt all people just when he went there he had bad experiences in the past. I feel the same way about how they hate americans. My uncle went somewhere I think it was like Ireland or something like that and that called him names and was givin him dirty looks for just him wearing a baseball cap.
