Because the thought of more then 1 superior being angers me! Rawr
But thats the point, a lot of people cant grasp the fact that their may be one or more gods then there own,
so they fight, they think there religion is superior, and its there given right to beat up on people that believe in other things
best example ever
hamas, and isreal

because generaly christians are brought to believe that everyone should be brought into the christian faith and accept God. its not their fault for believing or practicing the religion but it is wrong when then forcably try and convert none christians. some dont so im not saying you do but im talking in general. a religion is a religion, whether you believ, accept, agree it doesnt matter its a personal prefrence just let be and live for yourself (in a non-selfish way)

That's an excelent question. And one that I'm afraid I can't answer.

But, I know how you feel.. I'm athiest and whenever I tell people that, they either try to convert me, or just passively avoid me..

I'd like to hope that one day people of all different faiths, etc. will get along. But I doubt that will ever happen, unfortunately.

Two cannot walk together unless they agree.
People of different faith cannot walk together becouse they cannot agree.

Differences of beliefs and opinions, different upbringings and prejudices. All religions should really be teaming up to destroy the evil atheists don't you think? All the gods would be happy with those pesky non-believers don't you think?

Weezywatkins ***But thats the point, a lot of people cant grasp the fact that their may be one or... more gods then there own,***

What’s the chance of them getting angry, because there IS so many gods and they FEAR to face the fact that their god MIGHT NOT be the right one to serve;

OR

They FEAR the fact that NONE of them are right and NO god exist, because if you are sooo sure that the other god are not real, what gives you the idea yours exists?

Fear drives people to anger!

Keeping the fact in mind that all these religions date from times where they would have killed you (being send by Satan) arriving in your plane, sunglasses on your head, carrying a cell phone and laptop! These people didn’t have the capacity to develop Technology, how rational could they think? Writing these scripts, what could possibly inspire such an under developed mind? I am sure a 20-30 year old from those times didn’t even have the abilities compared to the average 6-8 year of our times, maybe worse!

My religion (Buddhism) encourages the respect and acceptance of all other faiths, and I honour that.

For the most part, almost everyone I know of a different religion than mine is respectful to me in return.

I like Buddhism, but I see it more as a way of life than an actual religion. Like taoism. It is varied and adaptable, I like that, but its foundations are not as strong or fulfilling as other religions based on faith. I believe that there are many paths to accept Jesus Christ as our lord and Saviour.

If you believe that your religion is correct, then any religion which conflicts with it (which is all of them) is necessarily misguided, as a minimum. People have a tendency to lash out at what they see as falsehoods.

This isn't so true of mystical religions, because those religions are more about the experience itself than about divine truths.

Good point toadaly, maybe mystical religions are actually superior because of the emphasis on personal experience. Takes it out of the relam of dogmatism and conflict.

You need new friends?

I generally avoid discussing faith with my friends, it works out pretty well...

Because there is only one God. man has made gods and idols of everything in the world but when you have different opinions and ways of thinking this is the result. Thee is only one truth and that is found in Gods word. the prob is that without his Holy Spirit guideing the so called preachers they make there little rules, which always seem to be for the woman, any way or they make it like a let us go church shopping. Some say I am this religion because I can do this or that or I do not like that religion because I have to grt ride of this or that.etc. all I know is that I have a personal relationship with the lord God almighty, and I have experienced a peace and joy assurance hope love and so much more that no other religion could give. Everyone has an opinion but there is only one truth. my job is to tell people the word and let them choose religion for convenience or a true relationship with God, the one who created the soul, and we can not run away from that.

Having just nearly turned back to my Catholic faith by reading the comments of wannabe semi-illiterate atheists in other posts, stephanieg has pushed me firmly back into the realm of atheism. Thanks.

It depends on what you call respect...

What I have been seeing lately in the world, is the statement that one is not being respected because someone else, mainly Christian, shared their faith with them... and it was called disrespecting them...

It is not disrespect to share ones faith, with another of a different faith.
