Why are you here, really?

word! Asked by h2oxaddict about 1 year ago, 8 answers.

What's your meaning in life? Don't give me a general response of 'help people' or 'make money'. Really tell me why you think you're here. Philosophically, of course.

I'm here becuase in March, 2003, I helped create this site with my good friend, esconsult1. It didn't really take off until my wife started helping more with the site.

I think that the meaning of life is as you define it. If you want something badly, like to invent something, or to become famous, then that is your purpose in life. It is to fulfill your pie in the sky, to have your wildest dreams come true. If you don't have a very strong dream of doing something important, then your meaning in life is to help support those who do have a big dream. I hope this advice helps you.

Remember that you can define words any way that you want and the dictionary is just a 'normal'

Life is what I make it. My purpose for being on Earth is undetermined at the moment...only God can answer that question. I try to live a clean life and make life as exiting and as best as I can until I move out...I am happy, and my purpose for being on the site is to help people while being able to meet some nice people, because I don't feel like I really have anyone to talk to...I have dreams and aspirtations, and I feel like right now my purpose is to fufill those...

In all probability, the meaning of life is to be happy. It's that simple. Think about it.

Life is our chance of knowing, loving, and serving God.

According to our own unique ways, we glorify God so that in the future we will earn our eternal inheritance.

Personally I dont think there even is a 'meaning' of life, who knows why we are here? we just are. Life is what we make it, I try to enjoy myself as much as possible in the time I have
I am only 14 years old but thats time enough to realise (and this still only an opinion)
there is no god... I dont believe there is this GOD who controls all things in life.
If he / she / it really exists then why has'nt he / she / it convinced me in some way that they do and they really are devine and all powerfull?

I believe in facts, call me ignorant, blasphemous, faithless, whatever you like.
I believe we are born, we live for a short while, and Innevitably, we die.
that is all, there is no heaven, we are not re-incarnated, these ideas are well recognised and are quite comforting to beleive in but... I do not
you are born, you live, you die, thats it.
not a pleasent thought for some but its what I personaly beleive in

if there was a god would they want to be worshiped?
would they want others killed in there name?
would they have others stamp out all opposing ideas?

Thats up to you to answer.

Even if there is a God, why should he/she/it convince you they exist and that they are devine and powerful? The reason why he/she/it hasn't is probably because he/she/it doesn't care if you believe in them or not. I think there's a God, but I think he/she/it just created everything and let it go, like a watchmaking person making a watch; build it, set it, and lets it run.

We don't know as much as you might think we do, so there are most likely an infinite amount of 'facts' that we have yet to discover, and probably even more that we'll never find out.

And who knows what happens when we die. And who really cares. We'll all find out soon enough anyway.

But people are always fighting about religion vs. science and stuff. They come up with theories about evolution and how the planets and stuff came to be, and I think all that happened BECAUSE of a God.

But everyones an extremeist. It's got to be a magical God or a scientific explanation. As if there's no possible way it can be both.
