Why are people so mean?

Why is it that they make these sites for people with questions..but when you ask them people look down on you and make you feel like nothing..how are you supposed to help people who are already in a jam if you are saying mean things to them isne this site all about support?isnt this site about answers?is it wrong to want answers?I just dont understand.

We have 'report abuse' links all over the site for just this reason...and yes, people who are 'mean' regularly get dealt wtih.

It's not FunAdvice if we get swamped with mean people

Personally, I'd rather things get slightly 'over reported' than under reported, as that way we get a better sense of what people are thinking and feeling as they use the site.

I know rite..because its like I asked a question about my ex and this chick just jumped all over me calling me vunerable ..and saying dudes feed off of people like me ..and what not I was like I dont even know you im just looking for an answer I already feel bad enough you dont have to make me feel even worse.

..yea you can.I did...but whats the purpose I dont no anybody on here anyways..I jsut think that if you are going to come on this thing you should help people and be supportive not insensitive and stupid it just shows how many problems you have...if you dont like the ? then dont answer.

Exactly. People here can be just plain mean. I think the best policy is not to get drawn in by them though and to just keep it simple.

Perhaps she thought she was helping? sometimes telling people the truth, even if they dont want to hear it, is more helpful than simply being supportive and enabling them to continue in their destructive relationships...

There are only a few minority of people who would be like that. Like ty said above it could also be that you just don't like the answer.
I do unserstand what you mean. There are some people who can be slightly demeaning with their answers. What kind of mean things do people say? If it's damn right horrible then you should report to one of the advisors who can sort out the issue.
If not then just try and ignore them. I know it can be difficult but if you feel people are being mean then they aren't really worth the trouble to worry over.

ty I agree with you but there is a nicer way of doing it other than calling people weak and stupid these people dont even answer your questions they just speak on a person or personality that they know nothing about.

well yes ofcourse, insulting a person is never allowed... and that is taken seriously on the site, let one of the advisors know or press the report abuse button, those answers are usually deleted, we try our best to catch people who are being rude or insulting...

I know what you mean, I came on this site, and I went to a question, to give advice to her, and I was looking at what advice other people were given and I came to this girl, and she was being so mean and horrible calling the the girl who needed help a sicko, she soon got a mouthful of me, for being so god damn rude and nasty.

You could report it if people are being really mean but I just ignore it.Some people just use varies websites as a place to let out there frustations.
