Why are people emo?

like the ones who arent depressed. ( I understand if they are). do they dress like that for attention cause they cant get it anyother way?(ex like bright hair and crazy outfits)

Some people just like the style or they think it's trendy. Some people do like dressing differently or trying different styles with clothing or hair will make you get more attention.
From my point of view, anyway.

uhh.. emo isn't a thing you are... you cant BE emo... emo is a way of thinking and feeling... emo is a way of life...and emo's arnt preps.. we dont dress this way to get attention... we dress this way because we want to be different... nonconformist

Bright hair and crazy outfits I think that would be Scene
cause Emo's only dress dark.
and it's just another style, not really to call attention, they just like it.
so any emo could ask why preppys dress preppy

but its not different thats what I dont understand cause there like a whole lot of emos and they all pretty much have the same style. So its not anymore unique as anyother clique or trend

Well yeah it's true. now a days it's really hard to have a unique look.
everything turns into a trend with the time.

But I think Emo's and Scenes are the most over rated trends.

It's not different anymore, because so many think it's the new way to be, way of style so then they're clothing may not be as unique, but they are themselves, as individuals. Some also like to jump the band wagon. Get to know an emo person and ask them why they dress the way they do.

still...they are not dressed like barbie dolls to represent bubbly girls...and action mann..to represent muscly men...they want to show they are different in thir own way...by dresseing veryy differently from the majority of today... I personally like th e scene look...the emo might come second...dont see anything wrong with choosing how you express yourself by means of dressing and acting...

emo is pathetic... I can't stand the style.

Emo, is not an emotional way of life. Emo is a spawn from punk. It's the emotional movement of punk .. which translates to the winy kids that got beat up by the punks but still want to pretend to fit in

and the other thing I dont get is why emos HATE preps?
is it just cause they dress differently than them. cause thats a stupid reason

Emo's are the old skaterfags of my generation. They think they're being unique and nonconformist and isolationist. But they're really just the people that are afraid to go into the moshpit. Take off the eyeliner and put on some pants that fit!

why should it matter why there emo... its not up to you to decide on how and why they choose there styles, why are looking down on people, just because you dont like the way they look, or how they dress leave em be!!!
