Probably your eye contact worries them and if you don't really eye contact them then don't worry about it. It could be because they're afraid to like you because they're mothers. lol

:D this is the perfect opportunity to try some things, if you know what I mean.
The key is to be friendly but not stalker-like. If you pass by them in the hall, smile and say hi like a friendly neighbor would, and over time they will get used to you.
In this case you have to be the smooth one because they are a bit awkward over you it seems.
