Why don't americans respond?

I was in florida not too long ago and I said hey to multiple people at different times, and asked them how there were and they just didnt answer, wtf is that lol

I'd do the same.. I won't talk to you not until you mention my name. but then again, I can payback with a good smile instead..

I'd want you to remember that not everybody can understand and get how pure your intention is, no matter how you smile and greet 'em, it won't matter still.. they still don't know you, that's the point.. so I'd suggest you smile or nodd at 'em instead.. I'd appreciate a person that smiles at me instead.. (: it makes me feel you're nice and kind.. (:

Head out to the west part of the country...people are more open, warmer, and more willing to talk to strangers...

oh, I dunno, maybe because its a bit scary if some random person comes up and suddenly just talks to you... lol. id be a bit afraid myself if some teenage guy I didnt evn know came up and just talked to me... id be like, do I know u? who in the world are you, anyways? lol. try not to freak anyone out--some people are just paranoid. but thts not very true, your statement. I do respond--but very vaguely. lol
