An iPod Nano can be connected to any computer that has a USB port, runs Windows or OS X (unsure of Linux) and has a copy of iTunes on it (iTunes is easy to download - it can be added to almost any computer). You get the songs through iTunes, and pay through your account (which most commonly taps your credit card). To charge it up, or put songs onto it, you connect the USB cable to the iPod and the Computer (the cable comes with the iPod) and it will start charging automatically - and you use iTunes to put the songs on.

I hope that answers most of your questions! If you have any more, don't hesitate to ask.

A USB port is a type of connector on your computer. All computers from about 1998/1999 on should have them - its a little rectangle slot where your cables for digital cameras, pen drives, printers and other things plug in. Your computer will most likely have more than 1. As a general guide, if your Dell is black in colour, then it will have USB ports. Since you have Windows (of some kind!), the only element you might be lacking is iTunes, but that can be downloaded from http://www.apple.com/itunes/

Once you've got iTunes, open it up, plug the iPod into the USB port, and iTunes can start talking to the iPod and put music, movies and pictures onto it.

Just so you know, you don't have to buy songs. If you want you can just download them from Limewire. Just download the free program on their website then you'll be able to search for all the songs you want!

ooo but limewire, just so you know, ruins computers. it ruined my sisters computer and all my friend's computers too! I heard my friend now gets songs from somehting called Aries (or something like that)

Firstly, Limewire doesn't ruin computers - its people not using it properly, such as not being able to distinguish between a file that is in fact a song, and one that is a virus with the same name.

Secondly, downloading songs in programs such as Limewire is illegal, and against Limewire's terms of use. If you get caught, you can get into a lot of trouble - quite apart from the fact that you risk downloading viruses and infecting your computer. Always use legitimate programs such as iTunes.
