I am -
Because there isn't enough proof for me to believe in otherwise, a book just doesn't do the trick.

I am -

Because I find no truth in believing in something that can not be proven and has no facts to back up anything it preaches.

xx_help_xx,
I agree, the freedom is great too. Not being told exactly how to live our lives.

I'm an atheist because I no longer believe in God.

I'm an atheist because my physical sensations are the end-all/be-all to my existence. My thoughts are the result or physical stimuli... and thus predetermined... but I will argue to my dying breath that predicting the future via this determinist establishment is and always will be impossible.

I believe in the tangible... concreteness of life... but this doesnt prevent me from concluding that those things outside of the current scope of my physical being are as they were last I experienced them... or at least no more different than chaos theory would allow for them to be over the time duration. Empirical evidence can be guesstimated.

I discount free will... we are as the wind blows.

I found fault with established religion... so now I'm atheist... those are the only two choices... the disillusioned agnostics are fence sitters.

John Safran is so freaking hilarious... and he really ventures into uncharted waters... I think he's the next Bill Hicks... nay... Hunter S. Thompson even.

I think I was proud first... then I became an atheist... and that made me even more prouder... we are the erudite elite after all.

I'm sooo tired of those proselytizing Christians... give it a rest... We don't bother you... why do you try and convert us... you were the cause of all the wars since the crusades... the inquisition... witch trials... indigenous slaughter... the world would be much better without Christians calling for religious discrimination... what we need is tolerance... convert to atheismhappy We don't mince words.

A few reasons I am a devout atheist... please... respect my beliefs.

I'm an atheist, mainly because I learned to apply critical thinking skills to religious beliefs and texts.

I'm an atheist. Note that you don't need any reasons *not to* believe in gods, you need reasons *to* believe in gods.

I find the idea of gods ridiculous, and there's nothing of substance to support the idea either.

I am, because there's no reason to believe in anything there's no evidence for.

That sounds like a poor predicament... I wonder if on Xmas he gives her absolutely nothing!

Haha

Oh, and I enjoyed miscegenymiser's response, I expected something deep such as that.

I feel sad for you all that are athiests, I have such a wonderful relationship w/ Christ, you could too, if you only had faith, and after having faith, you will soon after have the proof you now dont have. How do you expect to have any proof if you have no faith?

I'll skip the abusive relationship, thanks. I feel sorry for all you that are religious, constantly having to try and divine what bizarre regulations you are violating today.

I think you misunderstand the nature of proof. If it requires faith, it's not proof, it's belief without evidence.
