Who else is afraid of dogs?

I don't like big dogs but I have a little maltese she's only 8 pounds.

The only way to overcome a fear, is to face it. If you know someone with a friendly dog...the bigger the better...like a Lab, for instance...then ask them to help you over come your fear. Dogs are everywhere, and the aren't called 'Man's best friend' for nothing...they've been domesticated since the days of the caveman...there is NO animal who's domestication has been this long.

A dog is the only animal which will defend YOU against it's own kind...did you know that?

Anna...you aren't so scared of dogs, as you may be of germs...good luck on that one...you can't even see a germ coming!

well it depends on what kinda dog it is but big ones seem to scare me a little

I respect dogs that don't belong to me. I teach my grandkids this. When we go to the Vet's office I teach my 4 year old grandsons that they are to ask people before they go near their dogs, if they can pet them.

I love dogs, but I have a healthy respect for dogs.

I am not afraid of dogs. Dogs can sense your fear and they react to that fear. You must have had a bad experience with dogs at some point in your life.

If you weren't raised around dogs then it is normal to be afraid of them. It's part of the survival instinct.

The main thing to remember is not to 'run' from dog(s). That primes them instinctively to chase you like they would any other prey. Talk to them while simply walking away.
