Which side of the road do runners use?

I am a person who runs a lot. On the days I don't have sports practice, I run down our road since we live in the country. Today, I had cars coming at me from both directions. Normally, I run against traffic and move to the other lane if a car comes. So what are the proper rules for running on roads??

Running against the road is the safest thing! If you decide 2 run the same direction as cars then make sure you wear the proper gear such as...bright colored clothing..if your running at night have flashers....or shoes that reflect light!!!

You are supposed to face traffic when you run or walk down the street. That way you can see the cars coming at you, and they can see you. Do not trust people to drive up behind you. EVER.
