Where were you on 9/11/01?

Headshot Asked by themoviemaverick 10 months ago, 16 answers.

Where were you and what were you doing on 9/11? I bet this has been asked, but I haven't seen it since I became a member.
I was in my 8th grade health class. Our social studies teacher walked in, turned on the TV, and the two planes had already hit....

I had no idea what any of it meant, I was definitely way too young to understand it all.

I was in 5th grade sitting in my social studies class. Then the teacher got a phone call and she moved us all to the english room (since there was a tv in that class) with the other 2 classes in there already. The teachers turned on the tv and we watched it happen. I was in 5th grade but I didn't get what was going on either.

I was in my 3rd grade class room, in brooklyn new york. no one knew what was going on, kids were being called down from the office like every 5 mins. but they didnt tell us anything. the teacher at first didnt know what was even going on either. we went into the hall way and we could see the smoke from the school building. I was on the 4th floor so we could see it. but we still didnt know what it was, my mom didnt pick me up from school untill lunch time. my mom had no idea what was even going on. when we got home there were ashes in my backyard and all over the white sheets my mom put out to dry. it was a really nice day out in new york for that time of year. after that day all of new york was in panic... sad

I was active duty military at the time, stationed at Yokota Air Base, in Japan. Over there, it was actually September 12th already when the first plane hit. I was working a shift, when we were all recalled and the base was locked down. The Japanese police completely surrounded the base with guards, standing arm's length apart (it's not a small base...it involved several hundred Japanese cops). Most people I was working with knew that war was imminent, and started calling family when allowed.

In the weeks following 9/11, Japanese contractors and civilians, as well as JASDF (Japanese Air Force) personnel would bring flowers, cards, and other gifts to show support. There were thousands of wreaths donated to the US embassy in Tokyo. Very interesting to be overseas when your country is attacked.

I was in a hotel room in North Carolina. I went to the lobby to check out and get on the road, I didn't know if the interstate was going to close. There was a huge tv in the lobby and as I was checking out, I could see the second plane hit the tower. A man remarked that this was the fault of the jews and U.S. support of Israel. I got the heck out of there and spent the next 10 hours going 30 mph on the interstate in bumper to bumper traffic, trying to get my son who had just completed Army Ranger training on the phone.

I was in tenth grade in High school when it happened.
I was in a special english class not learning english for foreign people more like a resource room getting help with english such as writing and such. When the teacher turned on the TV to the news, I was in shock. I at first didn't know what was going on until she explained what was on the screen. Everyone in the class was frozen I mean completely silent since none of us knew what to say.
There were TVs on in every classroom during the morning hours. In the hallways, you could hear TVs going while passing by. I just was devastated. I didn't know that America could get attacked like that but, I was in for a big surprise! Everyone was in for the surprise. We should never forget that day and tragity. Also, we shouldn't forget those families that lost loved ones and so forth.

I was on ym way out the door to school, my older brother stopped me and showed me the tv. the first plane had hit, and just minutes later the second one hit, I went to school , to little to understand what was happenin. I was in grade 5. then my teacher came in with a tv, and we watched the news for the rest of the week.
we were all so upset about it, and I am from canada, that day really effected everyone.
