Should you have an email in your sentbox saying that youve asked that person 2 be your friend when you try to add them because only a couple people show up that have been sent whan I have asked a lot more

You'll only get the notification if the person has an approval setting to become friends.

If someone has their friend settings set to just automatically accept new friend requests, then you don't have to send or receive an email or funmail. If you request a friend, and it says that the user must approve your request, a funmail is sent to you when they accept, but there was no email or funmail really sent by you in the first place. You just click the 'add me as a friend' link.

In other words, you know how when you add someone it either says 'user is now your friend', or 'user approves friend requests'?

You're sending a FunMail asking the user who approves friend requests to be friends, and it generates a sent mail. The users who accept friend requests by default don't have that.
