What's the obsession with drinking?

Well a lot of drinking done at that age is due to peer pressure and wanting to fit in and look cool. Honestly I didnt drink till I turned 18 (which is when it's legal where I come from) but I'm guessing that's part of the reason...

peer pressure, dont drink it's not cool and it ages you faster.

but the biggest reason I don't do it is becauseee.. my biggest fear of all time is throwing up. andd I know if you get too drunk, then whoops, you puke.

because there's an age limit on when you can drink, kids think that drinking and getting pissed makes them look older and / or more mature.
