if you honestly care for her just be with her and do not treat her different as for the pot it helps pain and if she is on her death bed wed is not going to make a difference except to help

I understand. I'm 54 and I have COPD (Emphysema). I didn't get it from smoking, although I did smoke about 16 years ago. I had Radiation treatment for Hodgkins Disease. I don't know how long I have to live but I'm getting to the point where I am more and more limited in the things I can do.
The only place I go is to my Dr. appts. and I have to stay in bed most of the time. I'm on Oxygen 24 hrs a day and a Nebulizer machine that helps me breathe better.
I have to take medicine for pain and anxiety as well as for other reasons, that without, would be in a heap of trouble..
I feel like if you have a terminal illness, you should be able to take any medicine you want or need if it helps with your illness. It's not like you have to be worried about addiction. Pot (Marinol, I think it's called) is known for helping with pain and nausea.

I think you have to provide reassurance and love. You can't be sure how much someone in that condition can hear you, but anything they do pick up, through hearing, touch or just your 'vibes' will make a real difference to them. She may not be rational but some things may get through.

And do talk to the doctor about this, of course.
