The morning after pill, also known as plan B, is an emergency contraceptive that prevents ovulation, fertilization and I think maybe implantation (not sure about that), it stops you from getting pregnant if you arent already preganant... Yes you have to use it as soon as possible but it will work within the first 3 days, it just becomes less effective over time... you need to be 18 to buy it.

To avoid unplanned pregnancy, a girl can take either the emergency contraceptive pill (up to 72 hours/3 days later). You should continue to use condoms if you are having sex, until your next period if you are on the normal pill.

A girl can get this from her chemist or ask at doctors surgery. Important thing is, DON'T DELAY! The possibility is that far more problems could arise if you do.

If the girl is under 16 in the UK, still go to the chemist and give the person on the till a note asking if you could talk to the chemist in private.

They will be very supportive and advise you regarding the immediate issue as well as advice to avoid this happening again.

You may like to go with a friend for support.

DON'T DELAY! There are chemists open on Sundays in the UK. Search on the internet in your local area or ring your local hospital who will be able to advise which one is open.

Good luck
