It costs more to prosecute a death penalty case, than it does to keep them in prison for life.

I would write and tell that the death penalty does nothing to protect society. It is barbaric and it is a practice that is beneath what an just and enlightened society should engage in.

I think that if they had a more efficient way of execution then yes.. the whole takes 10 years then the price of it, just seems to be a waste of time HOWEVER yes it is barbaric but it should be.. justice needs to be cold, cruel and harsh not kind.. it needs to scare people into respecting the law..

I think the more barbaric the better, when a potential murder gets frighten at the prospect of the brutal punishment THAT is when you know justice has been done, because I believe justice is not stopping a criminal but to make sure he never becomes one

You cannot eliminate the long appeals process when a life is on the line. There would be even more wrongful executions then there already are now.

That is not justice, it is vengence. And I suggest you read the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution.

Capital punishment is not a deterrent to commit murder.

That I don't agree with it.

It's fighting fire with fire. It doesn't work. Plus what if a person was falsely accused. Also what about that persons family. I certainly wouldn't want to see one of my family members get killed. Especially not if I was the one who didn't do anything wrong.

so what is worse? killing an innocent or freeing a murderer? in retrospect and logically speaking freeing a murderer is worse because he can kill 1, 2 maybe 10 more people

wrong, vengeance is a emotional reaction to a previous action (such as a man kills your family so you kill his family) that is not what I was suggesting do not confuse punishment and revenge they have a difference, what I was suggesting was putting fear into a future murderer BEFORE he has a chance to murder, fear is the GREATEST thing for peace, my example the pax romania, rome had 200 years of peace, that is far longer then europe has EVER experienced and how did they do it? ill tell you it wasnt by being nice and justice it was pure fear.. they said you mess with us and we WILL crush you, that is why FEAR is the greastest tool.

locking a man in prison until he dies is far harsher.. or my favorite parole.. you get to see the man who killed your daughter leave prison after 15 years so what is justice? justice is simply the man with the hammer behind the stand

What are you talking about? Who said anything about freeing a murderer. Life in prison with no chance for parole will protect society from the murderer.

*** wrong, vengeance is a emotional reaction to a previous action (such as a man kills your family so you kill his family) that is not what I was suggesting do not confuse punishment and revenge they have a difference,***

Punishment is meant as a deterrent to crime, because without it we would have a lawless society. But exacting the ultimate, irreversable punishment of death is done soley out of revenge. An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.

***what I was suggesting was putting fear into a future murderer BEFORE he has a chance to murder, fear is the GREATEST thing for peace, my example the pax romania, rome had 200 years of peace, that is far longer then europe has EVER experienced and how did they do it? ***

What makes you think that the death penalty prevents people from committing murder? Where is your evidence of that? The fact is, there have been plenty of studies that show that the death penalty has no affect on murder rates. Someone who is about to commit murder isn't thinking about the punishment, they are think about how they can get away with it..

In case you didn't read it, here is the Eighth Amendment to the US Constitution.

'Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, NOR CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNSIHMENTS INFLICTED.'

*** locking a man in prison until he dies is far harsher.. ***

Maybe in your opinion, but probably not in the death row inmate's opinion.

*** or my favorite parole.. you get to see the man who killed your daughter leave prison after 15 years ***

What part of life WITHOUT parole don't you understand?

*** so what is justice? justice is simply the man with the hammer behind the stand ***

So tell me, how many innocent people being put to death would it take before you would oppose capital punishment? Are those innocent people getting justice?

In my opinon, even one person wrongfully put to death by the state, is one too many. Especially when there is a simple solution. Life in prison without parole.
