What would you do?

Asked by burntoutdropout 3 months ago, 8 answers.

Ok... So... Im getting sent to rehab... And it wouldnt be thst big of a deal if I was an actual addict... But im not...
Here is the story
Ok so me and a few friends decided it would be fun to break into a house while there was a mndatory hurricane...

evacuation going on... No biggy I thought... I have done it plenty of times before you wont get caught... Lmao well we got caught... Again no biggy I was already just waiting to get arrested on 2 counts of forgery wich would have gotten me atleast 5 years in the pen... Oh well... Anyways... So we got caught and through a strange series of events all charges were dropped mostly thanks to a bit of quick thinking and quick talking long story short I said that I was in desperate need of drug money because I had an uncontrolable cocaine habit... It was a lie... But thankfully I robbed people that care... Anyways... im getting sent to rehab really soon... But my question is... Should I stay? I mean if I am not addicted to cocaine then really whats the point of going? To satisfy my mother? I mean she is the one sending me... And the way I see it 6 weeks in rehab is way better than 5+ years in the slammer... But still... all the charges have been dropped so they cant actually do anything to me now right? ... What would you do if you were in my shoes... I really just see no point in sitting in rehab for no reason other than to make people think im clean ( I already am!)

Why would you get 5+ years in the "slammer" if all the charges had been dropped? You can't get sent to the "hoosegow" if there's no charge, right? It's not as if your mother can say, "Oh, no rehab, eh? Well, mister, we'll just get that judge to reverse the charges! See you in the 'clink'!"

Seriously, though..."slammer"?

Frankly, I don't believe you, but I'll pretend I do.

First of all, it was a STUPID idea in the first place, along with your forgery. I suggest you tell everyone the truth starting with your mother. HAHA. easier said than done, am I right? it will be very difficult, but it's not fair for you to waste your mothers money in rehab when you "don't need it."

or I suggest you go to rehab. although you are not addicted to drugs, rehab will change your life. the people in those places often have truly sad stories and it would be a life changing experience for you if you take it seriously.

Good luck.

I think you should follow the program. You are getting sent to rehab - you aren't being asked to go. Also, it sounds like you need some kind of lesson in your life. If you keep doing what you are doing, you will end up in jail. You are right about one thing rehab is better than jail. So, you should thank God that you have this opportunity. It could be worse.
Learn from your bad choices before you end up behind bars.

I'm OLD, and I've yet to hear an addicted person think or say they were addicted, so there's no reason to believe you...

There's also the possibility that you might learn something (obviously, lessons you've learned on the outside haven't sunk in)...

I say go...why not...you BELONG in prison.

It appears your life is headed down a bad path - don't need rehab ? - look in the mirror and at least be honest with yourself - don't stay in denial.
