What to sing in this competition?

awwww Asked by torimate 9 months ago, 7 answers.

my singing agent, just told me that I have been nominated to be in the biggest singing competition at the royal albert hall next month. I need to think of a good song, as all candidates have to choose their own song. it's so difficult finding the perfect song. I have no trouble going very high but im mainly an alto.any ideas? this is such an important competition only 100 competitors get nominated in the united kingdom and im one of them : ). also the song has to be in the modern era, so nothing classical, more a sort of pop, rnb track. many thanks.

She's a bit 'pop' but I recommend doing something by Stefy- she has quite a low almost breathless voice. Something like 'Hey Schoolboy' or 'Chelsea'. But is also depends on what type of voice you have, ie: husky, sharp etc.

Hey, first up well done for being nominated for competing at the Royal Albert Hall. Secondly, a few songs I would recommend to you:

*Robyn ft Kleerup - With Every Heartbeat (because it is modern and it is a clear song which will sound good in the hall)

*DHT - Listen To Your Heart (because it is a lovely song, it touches people's hearts and it will get your ability to hit high notes come to use)

Let me know what happens

ok maybe its not your kinda thing but Paramore songs can really put anyones voice across really well because they are very strong if you can sing it then do it! they are hard songs to sing but you might as well try =] try Fences - Paramore.

hmmm congrats first off!! and second, imogen heap is really good. her song hide and seek is amazing but its a capella, but she did her own 4 part harmony I guess you could chose one. or stefy...paramore? hallelujah is a really nice song good range,pop-ish, utada hikaru, has a beautiful song called simple and clean and it goes high. I think you should show off a voice if you can go high use it.
