What's the difference b/w a laptop bag and case?

Asked by alliyah09 23 days ago, 2 answers.

I just bought a 14.1'' Laptop and I would like to buy a shoulder padded bag for it but I also noticed the notebook case...whats the difference? just that the bag has departments and a handle while the case doesn't?

Is it possible to get the laptop...

case then put the case inside the bag?

Well, each manufacturer uses names liberally when it comes to things like this. A bag refers to something that is usually soft and is made of cloth, fabric, and or leather of some kind. A case is usually a more rigid storage device that is either made of plastic, metal, leather, and secures the stored device in case of a fall or accident better then a bag. SO... to answer your 2nd question... yes your can get a laptop neoprene/leather and/or fabric sleeve/bag to put on your laptop and then place your sleeved/bagged laptop in your new case/briefcase/carry bag/backpack/carrying device. lol, it really depends on exactly what is really what...but you already have it figured out... putting a neoprene shock adsorbing sleeve over the laptop and then placing it in a carry case is NOT over kill... it's protecting your investment..

Just one catch... do not store your laptop while it's in standby or running for any period longer then a few minutes (unless your outside in -15 temp) or your laptop will burn up like my girlfriend's did... she left it on, closed the lid, placed it in JUST a case, then left it for a few hours in the trunk of her car... later that eveing she found it super heated and wouldn't turn on after that...

SO if you add a protective sleeve/bag to that...

A laptop case just covers your laptop while a laptop bag allows you to cover your laptop, carry it with ease and place needing things into its compartments.
