well I have an HP there good but high maintenance apple mac book is great do not go with dell or gateway also don't go with any of the low end models

I have a compaq right now and I love it the best kind of labtop hands down is the MAC labtops

Mac laptops - excellent quality, cannot recommend them enough. I have one, and I work at a High School in IT - the Mac's give virtually no trouble. Toshiba's always break down.

Brands that are good and have a lot to recommend them other than Apple Mac - Acer (cheap, but very good value and good quality components for the price), HP/Compaq (they're the same company - get HP if you can over Compaq though), and ASUS. Whatever you do, stay away from Dell and Gateway.
