What makes someone preppy?

is there anything someone needs to know how to be preppy, you know like if your emo you cut yourself, adn if your goth you dress in black, if youre redneck you where boots and huge belt buckles...etc...whats the thing with the preps...what makes a prep...

Is this an American thing? All those different stereotypes? We have Goth here in Australia...inherited from somewhere. But emos and preps, they're types I haven't heard of before. If someone cuts themselves here they're just called 'stupid' and need help, and if someone is sayn 'like' a lot and relying on their good looks to get by, they're called 'stupid' too!! Or maybe snobs...but if you wear boots and big buckles, that makes you a redneck?? Maybe I've just been out of school for too long. Back when I was in school we had 'Metalheads', 'Nerds', 'Jocks' 'Skinheads'...girls were either 'Bushpigs' or 'Babes'...but in many ways could fit into those other 4 categories too. There you go...some useless information that doesn't answer your question at all...bring back the 80's 90's

Im sorry, and I mean this with all due respect. Sterotypes and labels were all meant for can good food products. Nothing should make you anything, you are who you are and I think its stupid to change that.Sterotypes are here only to group people to know how your group hangs with. And usually people determine them by clothes, or the other people you hang with. I guess you could consider me a prep but if you ask me, I dont think you should be labeling.

A prep is someone who wears like Abercrombie and Hollister. They usually play sports and get good grades. I guess I'm considered a prep but, I don't like stereotypes.
