What is wrong with the steering on my ford ka?

I have a 1997 ford ka. No power steering. Recently the steering has become extremely heavy. I can hardly turn the wheel. I have filled up tires, but no change. It sorta feels as though something is blocking my wheels from moving. It is very hard to turn. Maybe dangerous. Could it be the steering rack?? Is that expensive??

well, my mom has a blazer and when the steering got heavy, it ended up being a inexpensive belt that broke. check under the hood or bring it to a mechanic.

your out of power steering fluid probably...thas a simple fix ...but check that first and if that aint it then it might be sumthin else...but usually if your power steering goes out ..u usually check your power steering fluid!!!
