Small vessel ischemic change has several identifying characteristics attached to it.
It is sometimes referred to as something like the White Ventricular Matter found in the body via an MRI. It is usually a preclusive indicator for atherosclerosis.
What does all that crap mean in english? Well, it means that your brain is probably not getting as much blood as it use to. This can actually cause irreversible damage to brain cells if it happens.
Somtimes people that get migraine headaches a lot have this problem. In addition, it can also be as serious as that fact that you may be a good candidate for a stroke or for getting diabetes.
The reasons that a single individual person has this is actually different from one person to another. So, you can't just go on the web and get one single answer that will be most specific to you alone. Only your doctor can get the closest to an answer there. (Also, heart specialists are usually very good at answering this one).
I am not a medical doctor, nor a nutritionist. You should perhaps start there with such a problem (which you most likely have already). Any remedies that I would offer would only be from the street and not factual.
However, off the record, and from the street... I understand that if you drink at least 4 ounces of straight Pomegranate juice daily, cut any bad fat from your diet, go light on meat and diary products (or discontinue them), and increase your vegetable intake and exercise... that those are the primary things that some nutritionists seem to favor as a street remedy for something similar to that.
Post Script: I also seem to recall that this condition can also be one of the major
contributing factors for heart attack and/or Alsheimer's disease... though I can't clearly remember for certain.
Hope this helped some. Good Luck !
