What is it with this game, world of warcraft?

my brother-in-law has a serious problem with the stupid on line game, world of war craft. i want to tell him he needes help, but but i dont want to sound stupid. i know there are other people out there that hate this game as much as i do, so let me hear...

It's ok if he plays the game, even if you think it is stupid. Some people like the game, others don't. It's just an opinion.

So it's only a problem if you think it is interfering with the rest of his life. Does he still shower and eat? Does he work? Are important things still getting done?

If not, then just try pointing it out to him. You don't have to pepper it with your opinions about how stupid the game is though because that's not helpful, and it will probably just make him get defensive. So you can say something like, I know you really like the game, and that's ok. I just worry that you might be missing out on other things and not getting things done that really need to get done.

I've certainly had a few college semesters when my gaming pulled down some of my games and back then the games weren't nearly as addictive as today's games.

Anything can become an obsession. If your brother-in-law's gaming is causing him to not take care of his obligations than bring that to his attention. Ideally your brother-in-law will be able to find a balance where he can enjoy his game but not let it negatively impact his real life.
