What is my dance teacher's problem?

Asked by fau 3 months ago, 6 answers.

There's this dance teacher (*A) who says to me I am good at ballet. Today, *A was telling another teacher (*B) that I "slouch all the time", "never straighten my knees" and I'm "not a good at ballet at all." *B said to *A that I'm a great dancer with a lot of potential and that *A is just "jealous". How should I act tomorrow at dance? I'll be there for the whole day. How should I act around *A? Why is *A acting so weird?

it depends if *A knows you heard her comment about you. if she knows you heard it, ignore her, grunt if she speaks to you unless you absoutley MUST talk. use a flat tone in your voice. if she doesnt know you heard, act stand-offish but not too hostile, and try to do your best to show her you DO have potential, and hey, you have *B on your side anyway, so obviously you are not actualluy bad.

Well, *A thinks that I'm like, stupid or something because last year at conference, she said to my parents that I'm a talented dancer and whatever. Then a few weeks later, I heard her complaining about how much I'm terrible at dancing even though it was before the first day of class.

I'd confront her about it.

Maybe she thinks you can improve.

I don't know if she thinks I can improve, but *B says that I'm one of *A's favorites because I'm a lot like her...*A just acts like I'm her in some strange way and stares at me with this blank look the whole time at dance. Whenever she says something good to me, she'll mouth the words but when she says good things to other kids, she says it out loud. I really don't get *A.

it sounds to me like a lot of drama and jealousy. my dance classes used to get like that a lot until one of the mothers said something to the board director and we had like an intervention thing. it was weird and kind of unnecessary. but yeah, I would talk to her if I were you.
