What good diets are there that don't involve exercise?

Gir Asked by chipshoy1242 over 2 years ago, 5 answers.

I have an injured leg, so it's really hard to exercise. I'm 116lbs, and 51.5. People say I'm skinny, but my doctor says I need to lose weight, so are there any ways to lose weight without the exercise?

I generally would trust my doctor than I do other people. Of course, if you really weigh 16 lbs I would question a lot of things - including your existence.

Either way, regardless of your weight and other people's opinion, exercise is a must. You can eat normally and still lose weight if you exercise regularly.

Actually, I didn't read that part about your injured leg. Is that temporary or is it a permanent case? If it's the latter, you probably should ask this question to your doctor. He would know. I think.

At 5'1.5 116lbs sounds like the low end of normal to me.

Do you know why your doctor said you should loose weight? While I generally trust my doctor when she gives me advice I'm not sure about I seek other opinions.

Of course you can loose weight without exercise. In my experience diet is most of weight loss and exercise only helps a little. Unless you are doing hours of cardio you won't burn a lot of calories exercising. Exercise does make you healthier (which is a more important goal than mere weight loss) so it is worth while.

Even with an injured leg there are exercises you can do. If nothing else you can do some resistance training for your upper body. Can you swim? that can be a good exericse for a lot of people with problems supporteing their weight. I see lots of people at the Y doing deep water aerobics that probably wouldn't be comfotable doing other exercises.

Just eating smaller ports of healthy foods will help you lose weight, although you don't sound like that's really necessary, unless it's what you want. Skinless chicken, turkey breast, fish, loin type meats, but only 3 oz. worth. CUt out presweetened drinks/soda and drink lots of water. Fruits and veggies, instead of chips, cakes or cookies, and low fat or skim milk, cheese, whole grain breads, pastas, rice and cereals. Exercise is a must, you can still walk, or bike ( try 1 mile) but there is no way to lose body fat, unless you eat right and exercise.
