Respect is fundamental in relationship, since he respect you its okay. You have to optimistic about the friendship. Give him chance, its rare to find such people around.

It depends on a lot of things. If you guys are around the same age, everything sounds fine to me. If you're pretty young and he's a good amount of years older than you, I would think something's up. But he really does sound respectful either way, I would think you don't have anything to worry about.
