What does that advisor symbol mean exactly?

Blue Dragon Asked by noname55alanna 10 months ago, 2 answers.

I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question but I've noticed on some of the question pages that theres a gold symbol in the upper-right corners saying advisor. What does it mean exactly? That you work for this site? Or that you've been on this site for so long? Thanks

Hi!

Advisors are unpaid people who have been on the site for awhile (at least a couple of weeks or a month), have answered a lot of questions (at least 50) and give good answers with correct spelling and punctuation. They are given the symbol as well as some privileges to delete stuff that's inappropriate. They are kind of the 'official' voice of the site!

Ok, now I get it. Do you have to be a certain age and how do you become one? Thanks! I know I'm somewhat young but I would like to know for the future.
