It refers to drinking beer as fast as possible, in one of several methods. An excellent way to get drunk, and beyond. The alcohol gets into your body faster than it gets into your blood, so that you have no chance to ever say 'that's enough.' You get bombed, blitzed, and can pass out or possibly die.
Don't do it. It's dangerous.

shotgunning means to consume alcohol(normally beer)very quickly.
Basically you pop a hole in the can and then pop the tab and drink from the hole.

Shotgunning is when you pop a hole in the bottom of a beer can and pop the tab. It creates an air bubble and shoots the beer down quick. It's not as dangerous as these people are saying. but just like drinking anytype of alcohol. Too much can be dangerous. DUH!!
