What does it typically mean when a guy calls a girl "beautiful" ?

being sarcastic. I dont know what to feel. Did he literally mean it? He knows my name for sure, and he isnt southern and just using some southern dialogue or something. Im 19 and I feel bad because hes in his upper thirties, like 36. Do older guys just toss that around like that or what? Do they mean it? Is he flirting? It actually made me feel really good. Help?

Seeing as he's much older than you, he's being nice and friendly, and paid you a compliment. End of story.

And seeing as you're just 19, I wouldn't be starting off by going out with much older guys like that, no matter how nice or flirty they are. I'm not knocking him or anything, but I think for your own sake that you should date guys closer to your age. Because when you're in your prime and this guy turns 40 or 50, you're going to feel very bogged down having to take care of an old man.
