hehehe... honestly it would be neat if we were able to get to places by horse back, or even carragies!! - it would sure eliminate the problem with the cost of gas as well as pollution!! lol... back home in Indonesia, people still get around with carragies at some cities!! =)

I think we should have public transportation EVERYWHERE like they do in europe... that would solve so many problems... we wouldn't even really need to own cars.

There's a reason people switched from horses to cars... You dont need to feed or groom a car everyday, you dont need someone to take care of it or a place to house it, and they cant go as fast or as far as cars can... horses are a lot of work and impractical today...

At this point, horses would never work. We've progressed too much. Can you imagine going down the freeway by horseback? It would be like a big horse race. The kids would get lost.

Oh, I guess there would be horse & buggy. Hmmm...Nay.

I'm a big fan of bicycles for transportation. I didn't even own a car a car until I was 24, before that I walked, cycled, or occasionally borrowed someone else's vehicle.

I'd like to cycle more than I do now. It would definitely be good for my waistline as well as the environment.

Horses aren't the most practical option these days, but I thing they suit some peoples' lifestyles. Bikes, walking and public transport are better alternatives to cars now, as many people above have said.

But, jaceb, I'm from Europe (first the UK now France) and I'm afraid we really don't have public transport everywhere, just in the cities. We do have sidewalks and safe crossings in all towns and suburbs, so you can always walk safely, which is very good. We are fairly good at cycle-paths and some nations (Germany and the Netherlands) are great at that. In my nearby city there is an underground metro and a gas-bus system. The new cycle hire system seems to be working very well there - it's popular and the bikes aren't getting stolen, so that's good. A new tramway is being built out into the suburbs. But I still don't have much choice but to get into my car if I want to get there from my nearby town!

Too much horse poop everywhere...probably not a good thing. Cars need to be electric, recharged via the suns energy...problem solved. Now why is that so hard in this day & age?? The technology is here, why aren't we using it?? Because governments are corrupt...there is no other answer.
