What do you think about mainstream music?

Okay, I have friends who are on both sides of mainstream. Some love it just to fit in and some hate it just to not fit in. I personally like it and don't like it. I really don't like hip hop or country which makes up over half of mainstream music, but I...

do like some of the new alternative, rock, punk, ect. music just as long as the radio stations don't overplay the songs to the point where I can't stand them.

So what do you all think of mainstream? Love it, Hate it, or Both?

I love everything from phantom of the oprah to pink to nickleback to acdc. At any given time I shall pass someone in my holden crewman singing so loud im sure everyone can hear it lol.

Well it really depends on what kind of mainstream you mean. The Oxford American dictionary defines mainstream as; the ideas, attitudes, or activities that are regarded as normal or conventional; the dominant trend in opinion, fashion, or the arts.

So in music, there really s no mainstream. Mainstream varies between cliques.

I'm talking about the Top 40 kind of mainstream music. The kind you hear on the top hit radio stations constantly and that people regard as popular. You know, the kind of music that's on MTV.

It really doesn't matter whether music is mainstream or not. If you like it then it's good, if you don't then it's bad. Whether it's mainstream or not shouldn't have any influence on your opinion of it.

Personally when I judge music I base my opinion on the music alone. I don't judge music by the band or artist or publicity, antics etc... The music is all that matters.

to me most mainstream music makes me sick...most of its about sex,war or sex during war...and the songs that arent are just plain disturbing.

so I guess my answer is I hate mainstream music

If I think it sounds good I like it, mainstream or not, however most of my music would probably be considered not mainstream, but its not for that reason.

I rarely find a mainstream band that sounds good
a lot of times, the lyrics in a lot of new, and older mainstream bands/singers make no sense
...anything about sex, being promiscuouse, war, guns, cars, abusing women and crap like that is out of my books
which is why I hate a lot of mainstream music, because the majority of it is about just that.
in my opinion some of the worst mainstream acts are brittany spears, the pussycat dolls, ect and a lot of rap music like 50 cent ect
