What came first, the chicken or the egg?

I have solved this very old question... what came first the chicken or the egg? the chicken. becos if the egg was just there what would keep it warm for it to hatch? haha!

As far as I know it was the egg...

We covered this in a lecture one time...
I don't really remeber it that much but basically it said that the egg came first...

An ancestor to the chicken was pregnant and somehow it's dna modified (which does happen, so the species can adapt to its new enviroment, and what not...), and when it laid the egg a chicken came out =P haha

It's evolution... the chicken is the closest living relative to the T-Rex for sobbing out loud. So in response to meggiemae6862 it definatley wasn't first... haha

I dont know the real answer, I dont know if there is a 'right' answer at all, but in my opinion, its the egg happy )
Anything could warm and hatch the egg... And then somehow, by nature..chicken is born (from the egg).. and this continues on and on..
But I think the egg came first happy )

well, I deffinetly do NOT believe that there was something to crush the egg,
becuase,
that leads to the question,
what came first,
the egg, or the egg-crusher?
maybe the egg or the chicken was the first thing on this planet.
but who knows?

It was the egg!! Why would it be eaten or crushed???
Somehow, by nature.. it was saved and somehow chicken was born...
It doesnt mean it has to be eaten or crushed!

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

The egg
.
It was laid by the female of a species. During its development it developed one or more evolutionary traits that started its distinctiveness as being a little different from the creature that laid it.

Those traits aided in its survival and growth and were therefor passed on to future generations.

Future generations kept evolving with additional survival traits until eventually the complete chicken had evolved.

But it still had to come from an egg, so the egg came first!
